Privacy policy
Last updated: 22 October 2026. Hookletter is made by The Open Apps, Inc. ("we"). Contact: support@theopenapps.com.
Hookletter makes personal gift songs inside ChatGPT, Claude and Grok Bot. This page says what we keep, why, who else sees it and how to delete it.
What we keep
- The song you start: the occasion, the recipient's first name if you give one, the details you want sung about, the language, the mood and the sound you pick (genre, instruments, singer, tempo, length).
- The lyrics you write with the assistant, every version of them, and the title.
- The music: each chorus preview and song version made from your lyrics, the composition plan sent to the music service, and the audio files.
- Links: your private song page and any share link you ask for, with the "from" line and note you add.
- Your acceptance of the music terms, with the date.
- An account id, hashed. In ChatGPT we receive an anonymised user id from OpenAI and store only a keyed hash of it, so your songs follow you between chats. Claude and Grok send no user id: there a song is reached only by its id in the conversation.
- Technical logs for 30 days: the time, which tool or page was used, counts and error codes. Logs never hold lyrics, names, notes, links or IP addresses.
We don't ask for or keep your name, email, phone number, address, voice recordings or photos. Songs carry a first name at most, and Hookletter refuses lyrics with contact details.
Why
Only to make your song, keep it for you, let you change it and send it, and keep the service working and within its daily limits. We don't sell data, show ads, build profiles or train models on your songs.
Who else sees it
- ElevenLabs (music generation): receives the lyrics and the sound description for each preview or version, and returns the audio. It processes them as our service provider under its terms. We ask it to keep a full song so a later "change one part" can reuse it.
- The assistant you use (OpenAI's ChatGPT, Anthropic's Claude, or Grok Bot by xAI and Anysphere) sees the tool results in your conversation, under its own privacy policy.
- People you send a link to can open that song page, listen and download. Links are long and random and aren't listed or indexed anywhere.
- Hetzner Online GmbH runs our servers, database and files. Cloudflare, Inc. runs DNS for our domain name; our traffic doesn't pass through Cloudflare.
We are based in the United States. ElevenLabs, OpenAI, Anthropic, xAI and Anysphere may process data in the United States and other countries, each under its own privacy and security commitments.
How long
A song, its lyrics, audio and links are deleted 12 months after you last changed it, or at once when you say "Delete my Hookletter song" in the chat. Logs are deleted after 30 days. Backups roll over within 14 days.
Your rights
You can see, correct or delete your songs from the chat at any time. For anything else (a copy of your data, a question or a complaint) write to support@theopenapps.com. If you're in the EU, UK or Türkiye you can also complain to your data protection authority (in Türkiye, KVKK).
Children
Hookletter is for people aged 13 and over and isn't aimed at children. Releasing a song to streaming services is for people aged 18 and over.
Changes
If this policy changes, the date above changes and the new version applies from then.
