Put your song on Spotify
Spotify doesn't take uploads from artists directly: every song reaches it through a distributor. Hookletter gives you everything a distributor asks for, free, on your own song page.
The release kit
- The audio as a 44.1 kHz, 16-bit stereo WAV.
- A 3000 x 3000 cover drawn from your title (no AI image, no faces; the title is the only text).
- The metadata sheet and your lyrics.
- Answers for Spotify's AI credits, per role, and a rights note on where the audio came from.
- Step-by-step instructions.
Steps
- Open your private song page (ask “show my Hookletter song”) and download the release kit for the version you like.
- Pick a distributor that accepts fully AI-generated tracks. In October 2026 DistroKid, Amuse, Ditto, ONErpm and RouteNote do; CD Baby, FreshTunes and iMusician don't; TuneCore and Symphonic accept only some AI models, so check first.
- Release it as a single under your real name or a stage name of your own (search Spotify for it first), answer the AI questions from the kit, and upload the WAV and cover.
- For a gift, pick the earliest date; to pitch it to Spotify's editors, at least 7 days out. The distributor emails you when it's live.
Good to know
- A song needs at least 1,000 streams in 12 months on Spotify before it earns anything, and AI tracks rarely get there: a gift song is a gift, not an income.
- Release as a human artist, not an AI persona: Spotify labels AI personas and leaves them out of recommendations.
- One release per song, and never buy streams: fines for artificial streams are passed on to you.
- Releasing is for people aged 18 and over. The song can't be used in film, TV, radio or games.
